Кожна історія має початок. Передісторія (чи Походження, англ. Backgrounds) вашого персонажа виявляє, звідки ви прийшли, як ви стали пригодником і яке ваше місце у цьому світі. Ваш боєць, можливо, був хоробрим лицарем або сивим солдатом. Ваш чарівник міг бути мудрецем чи ремісником. Ваш пройдисвіт міг побувати агентом злодійської гільдії чи виступав перед глядачами як блазень.

Вибір передісторії надає вам важливі підказки щодо особистості персонажа. Найважливіше питання, на яке варто відповісти, говорячи про передісторію, — це що змінилося? Чому ви припинили робити все, що описує ваша передісторія, і вирушили в пригоди? Досвід[ред. | ред. код]

Кожна передісторія дозволяє персонажу опанувати дві навички.

Крім того, більшість передісторій дозволяють персонажу опанувати один або більше інструментів.

Якщо персонаж отримує той самий досвід із двох різних джерел, він чи вона може опанувати іншу навичку чи інструмент того самого типу.

Мови[ред. | ред. код]

Деякі передісторії також дозволяють персонажам вивчати додаткові мови, окрім тих, що надані расою.

Спорядження[ред. | ред. код]

Кожна передісторія пропонує набір стартового спорядження. Якщо ви застосовуєте необов’язкове правило й витрачаєте монети на купівлю спорядження, ви не отримуєте стартовий набір від своєї передісторії.

Пропоновані характеристики[ред. | ред. код]

Передісторія містить пропоновані особисті характеристики на основі вашого попереднього життя. Ви можете вибрати характеристики, зробити кидок для випадкового вибору або скористатися підказками в якості натхнення при створенні власних характеристик.
